It's 4.30am and I am currently in the shop! I am a very diligent worker, but being here has absolutely nothing to do with that! Unfortunately 'Hurricane Desmond' shook East Kilbride GC and set off my shop alarm! So far I have hoovered, visited McDonalds and I am currently listening to 'Smooth Christmas Hits' on the radio. The song playing at present is 'I WANT A HIPPOPOTAMUS FOR CHRISTMAS'. To be honest this could all be a dream and I could be typing into my pillow!
The Golf Lounge
The weather as we all know has been nothing short of disastrous and golf has been at a minimal. I have been asked many times for a game a golf this year by two of our newest members 'Mark' and 'Allan Dempsie' but I always seemed to have something else on. I think they may well have thought I was avoiding them so I booked up the 'Indoor Golf Lounge' in Glasgow for the boys and I. We even took 'Kieran' along to bring the average age down a bit and played 'The Old Course St Andrews' whilst partaking in a multitude of beverages.
I was conducting a survey about balance, golf and intoxication and my survey produced inconsistent results. I did finish joint 1st with 35 stableford points which was most pleasing as my golf has been minimal this year. My prize at the end of the night was a sausage supper from 'The Blue Lagoon' and in the morning I was greeted with a medium to excruciating sore head. The moral of the story is, don't let Alan Dempsie lead you astray. It was a great laugh, and if you have not experienced a golf simulator then definitely have a go as the days are getting shorter and the weather is getting worse!

Why Does It Always Rain On Me?
It is hard not to mention the rain as all it seems to do is rain. If 'NOAH' had been about he would be packing his bags and heading to Florida.
The course has again stayed open most of the time and on full greens which again is testament to all the drainage work that has been done. We will let you know exactly how much has been installed over the years, and I think your jaws may drop when you hear the amount.
In the mean-time, here is the rainfall over the last few years which will give you an idea of how bad the weather has been lately.

Presentation Of Prizes
Saturday night saw the Annual Prize Giving Evening where the club's best golfers of the year were presented with their silverware. It was again a great night at the club and so nice to see such a representation of Juniors there.
A special mention goes to the Woodhouse Family whose children all picked up at least one piece of Silverware. When I was growing up, Golf Clubs were all about families and kids growing up through the golf club and progressing through to full membership. It is encouraging to see this still has a place at East Kilbride Golf Club.
It was also so nice to see that the vast majority of prize winners had been for lessons or club fittings from me in the last year. We all require a little guidance here and there and it has been a pleasure working with you all.
