Greetings golfers,
The snow has fallen again and we are left without any golf. This is not god news for you or I, but it is January and we haven't really had much cold weather at all this winter. When I was young, I loved the snow and the possibility of the following things:
- School Closure
- Snowball Fights
- Sledging
- Snowmen
- Ice Slides
Now I am a mature (steady now) man with a wife and children, I now hate the snow for the following reasons:
The course is shut, so no golfers
Snowballs now pan my windows (karma from my youth)
Gritters fire grit and crack my windscreen
My till refuses to open
It takes 20 minutes to de-ice my car
So now that's off my chest, let's hope for some rain to wash the white stuff!

Some Said I Couldn't Do It - Some Said It Was Impossible!
What am I talking about, well I, Graeme Bell, went to the Burns Supper and didn't touch any alcohol. Not even a Whisky sauce on the haggis got to me. I had 2 fresh oranges and one glass of water.
My sobriety did not detract from the fantastic evening. The food was great, the speakers were excellent and the company was even better. We had 130 people in attendance and this is testament to the people responsible for organising this event. Ian Henderson, Ronnie Watson, Laura and Chef Brian all deserve a lot of thanks for making this night the success it was. Everyone had a great time, especially when I was the target of Ronnie Watson's abuse. Unfortunately I cannot print what Ronnie was saying about me due to his colourful language. Speaking of colour, I really wish he would let us know what shade of black Ronnie dyes his hair, it looks so natural! Why does he do it, well BECAUSE HE'S WORTH IT!
Kick Start Your Golf Game This Year
I really do love my job, and improving golfers is what it is all about. I do think golf coaching in years gone by has not focused on the things that really matter. By cataloguing what the best players do, we can then establish patterns that we can adopt to be better at golf. Tour professionals have many things in common, but coaches have spent so much time focusing on things that they do not have in common like 'grip' for example. Some tour players have strong grips, weak grips, interlocking, overlap and the list goes on! So by pigeon holing everyone into the same grip is a complete waste of time.
So what do they all do?
They all strike the ball in a consistent position and have the ability to control which part of the face that they hit. Have a little look at my YouTube Video and see how you can take your fist steps to becoming a better ball striker. Enjoy.
