Greetings,

Pros news

The snow finally lifted with the help of some heavy rain but even after all the snow and rain we managed to get the course open on Saturday with 18 full greens. Unbelievable achievement considering the weather and everyone commented on how good the place was looking.

I wish everyone commented on how good I am looking after my month off the 'Don Revie' , chocolate, crisps and fizzy juice. I wish I could tell you that I felt amazing but unfortunately not. It has taught me that everything is good in moderation! This is why I only send you one newsletter a week, (not including promotional actives of course).

Rickie Fowler is a fowler of fashion

With headlines like that, I sometimes wonder why 'Rupert Maxwell' hasn't bugged my phone and signed me up to relaunch the 'News of the World'.

But anyway lets talk about Rickie's great win in Abu Dhabi where he tamed the sand and holed out twice from off the green. His golf was great and my tip of the Nordick God 'Henrik Stenson' wasn't too far behind either. If you have ever had the chance to play the National Course in Abu Dhabi then you will know how good they must have been playing to go so far under par. Incredible work from the superstars of golf.

Now lets move onto his trousers and shoes...

Rickie is a fashionable young chap who has influenced a generation of golfers to dress like a Guantanamo Bay resident. This Day-Glo orange is now part of his DNA but his pedal pusher trousers and high angle boots are the DNA of Jane Fonda in the early 80's. I would like to see him try to get into the clubhouse of St Andrews wearing those little beauties. I think that 'Peter Dawson's' rather large jaw would be quivering with rage. All joking aside, the game is certainly developing for the better but I don't know if pedal pushers and moon boots are the answer, well not at the same time anyway!

Would you like to be a sponsor of my newsletter?

I love doing this newsletter and the great feedback I receive regarding it makes it all worth it. My mantra is to educate you all in everything golf related, keep you updated on things happening at the club and most importantly is to spread some fun.

Our readerships rates are way above the national average with well over 1000 people reading it every week. So my proposition to any of you out there with a business is...

Would you like to become a sponsor of the newsletter?

The exposure you would get would be fantastic and you would have all your business details present on the newsletter, website and on social media.

You would also have the ability to advertise promotions or anything else you would like for FREE.

If you would like to get involved, then please click here to get in touch, or come and have a chat in the pro shop.

Shop news

We are sale-ing!!

We are sale-ing, we are sale-ing across the car park, to the shop...

I will stop my Rod Stewart impression right there, and tell you about the Shop Sale!!

Yes, the sale is on and the shops prices having been falling quicker than Greece's credit rating. We have the majority of our stock at less than cost price and those of you who have already visited us, have already snapped up some serious bargains. Don't leave it too late or it will all be gone!!!

The new PING 'G' range

PING have better offerings than the three wise men and their new 'G' range is certainly a shining star.

Thankfully it is better than my chat but before we go any further.

The G30 range has been out for 2 years and will stay in the range at the same price point! G-Max and the i series irons will be current for at least another year.

So the new 'G' range whats it all about?

Within the range is a new PING G driver, which features ground-breaking Dragon Fly crown technology that saves eight grams of weight, allowing PING engineers to move the CG position deeper in the head for higher launch and forgiveness. Three new fairway woods join the driver, giving golfers even more options off the tee and a new category in the form of the unique PING Crossover has been opened.

Topping off this exciting new product line is the PING G iron, which boasts a fresh look and lots of new technology to improve distances, feel and accuracy.

At present we have the full iron fitting cart for the new range and we will be one of the first in the area to receive the woods in early February.

So if you would like more information or to book a fitting then please get in touch.

Coaching news

Two things that all great golfers have in common...

We all ask the questions, "What is the secret to golf?" and "What do the pros do that I don't?"

In years gone by golf has been coached using basic fundamentals, such as:

- Grip
- Posture
- Alignment
- Ball Position.

Now here's something that may shock you... The world's best players all have the following:

- Different grips
- Different postures
- Different alignment
- Different ball positions

For example:

Different Grips

Different Alignments

Different Ball Positions

So therefore how can they be fundamentals if all good players employ different ones? What do all great players have in common?

- They hit the ground in the same place with their club time after time.
- They are able to control the curvature of the golf ball.
- They are able to create enough power to play the golf course.
- Grip, posture, alignment and ball position are all very important but if you can't hit the ground in the same place every time then working on them isn't going to make you a better player.

So addressing the absolute fundamental of golf hitting the ground in the same place time after time will make you a better golfer!

This is why the average golfer has not improved in the last 30 years!

Change your game - change your fundamentals!!!
