Greetings golfers,
Golf Fever has hit East Kilbride and it's all go. Golfers I have not seen in months have been appearing everywhere. It's great to see the club buzzing.
Speaking of buzzing, the fumes of white spirit have been overpowering in the shop of late with the amount of re-grips we have been doing. We have seen some grips in need of some serious attention, ones that could easily have doubled as grease proof paper or even better than that, skis!
I have signed a non-disclosure and will not reveal the owners of these slippery snakes. The good thing is that so many of you will be starting the season on the right foot with good equipment.
Bunny I Scared The Kids
Easter is a time for chocolate, boiling eggs within an inch of their life, painting them, rolling them down hills and not forgetting dressing up as an Easter Bunny! Yes, this year the clubs favourite Bunny and Santa "Stewart Wilson" had a previous engagement. So the tallest Bunny in town stepped in, "Bunny Bell" became the chosen one. I very much doubt that an Easter Bunny has ever been so tall, or as one member said "so camp", but the kids enjoyed chasing and kicking me.
In all seriousness it was another great day for families at our club and another great addition to your membership here at East Kilbride Golf Club. A big thank you to Laura our Club House Manager for organising the day. Special thanks to all of her staff and especially Yvonne Welsh who did some marvellous face painting. She does a mean Chewbacca and Peppa Pig!
First Competition Of The Year Goes A Bit Marti Pellow
You were all spending last Friday night polishing your clubs and marking your balls, dreaming of this year being your best and imagining that mantlepiece bursting with silver vessels of success. By Saturday morning you were now gazing at your new outdoor pool where your grass once lay.
Yes, it was Wet Wet Wet! The only difference was that Marti Pellow at least got some hits, whereas you, the golfer, got none.
I hope you see what I did there, I was only looking to use the "Wet Wet Wet" bit, but I really pulled that one out of the bag.
Do not panic as this Saturday we have another Competition, and just as in the Easter Story we are so familiar with, we shall rise again!

Juniors.... Assemble
The Easter School holidays begin next week and so does our Easter Junior Coaching Program. It's a great time for kids to engage in our great sport and for them to get outside into a world of fresh air and no computer games. It allows them to meet new golfing friends and learn all about being a golfer and a member of a golf club.
