Greetings,
Sand was applied to the greens and sun factor was applied to our bare flesh. It was great week for weather and the course as Grant and his team punched holes in the greens and filled them with sand. Sounds sadistic but he has been doing this for the last few years and our greens have gone from strength to strength. You may have noticed how quickly they are recovering and how smooth they are running considering the invasive work. This has been due to a special brush machine that was on loan to get the sand into the holes better and it is great. It is an expensive bit of kit, so if there are any millionaires out there who would like to buy us one, then please get in touch! It is not very expensive but we would like to get one in the future to make the greens recover quicker.
SUN SUN SUN
The lord of rays was kind to us last week as our legs and arms came out from under our four layers of clothes. There were more red faces on Saturday than after Rangers performance in the cups. I'm a Rangers fan so I can get away with that gag! Golf is great in the sunshine as even a bad round results in a healthy glow and that holiday feeling. When the temperature gets above 12 degrees, the taaaaaps come off in Glasgow and the shorts came out in Linlithgow! Here are my favorite pair of shorts from the weekend, worn by one of our returning members Gordon Lockhart. Gordon has been down in London for the last couple of years and has definitely brought back some serious London Trend. Well done Gordy!
HAPPY EASTER
It was Easter at the weekend but it was not eggs that we were rolling, it was putts! Yes my one liners are truly atrocious but my golfing tips and wisdom are still heaven sent. It is so important to know how a golf ball rolls of a putter face and even a wedge. We need to know how good our stroke or swing is and if what sort of spin we are applying to the ball. If we know the data then we can change the data. Here is a short educational and obviously humorous video to help your putting and wedge play.
KEN DAGGER SLICES UP THE FIELD
A headline I have been waiting to use for a couple of years and one which the tabloids would be proud of. Ken Dagger is one of life's gentleman and an all-round good guy, a chap that has found golf challenging since he joined the club. One of his first target was to get round a golf course with the same ball and yes he did it! We both have worked hard on his game, through coaching and club fitting. He still has some left to right curve on the ball but like Bubba did the week before, he controlled it on his way to scooping 1st place in his division!
