Greetings golfers,
Mother nature has been kind to us of late with lots of sunny days, and this has brought many of you up to the club. With sun comes a few bad things though and I have unfortunately witnessed the following over the last week:
- Chalk white legs
- White sport socks that have lost all elasticity
- Hats that are older than me
I can help you with everything bar the legs, so pop into the shop and see how we can assist in modernising your golfing looks. Do not suffer alone, we have fully trained staff at the end of phone and all your needs will be dealt with in strictest confidence.
The tee sheet is nearly full and all we have to do is arrange the weather.
So what will be happening on the day?
We have not only thousands of pounds worth of prizes, but your very own Pro will be serving you a burger and a beer at hole 8. I would like to point out that in 1994 I was awarded a Grade 1 in my Standard Grade Home-Economics exam, so there is no need to panic. I am also a dab hand at making furry dice for cars, and I'm no stranger to a patchwork quilt.
We will also be doing our no-lose gamble at a par 3 where you can double your money if you hit the green. Even if you don't, you get your money back as a shop voucher.
There will also be nearest the pins, longest drives and fun by the bucketload.
We will also have a few other secret things up our sleeves for you. We will reveal more as we get closer to the day. We will also have music and entertainment in the clubhouse after your round. So if like me, you do enjoy a light refreshment then please get dropped off and enjoy the day minus the motor.
Please remember that entry money has to be paid before Friday, 10 June.

Just pop into the shop in advance of your tee time and we can register you for the promotion.
Golf Is Indeed A Game Of Feel
I know I harp on about how important the strike is in golf, but it really is the most important part of golf. At least 75% of my lessons this week had an issue with where the ball hit the clubface.
This is what the best players do well, and if you don't know where your golf balls are hitting the face then get measuring.
Pop into the shop and I will give you a few labels for your clubs and I will interpret the results for free for you. Clubs that are ill-fitted to you will have a huge effect on this. The following are things that will effect strike.
Club Length
Club Lie Angle
Shaft Weight
Shaft Flex
Swing Weight
Head Design
The Practice Area
Hopefully you will see the improvements that I am trying to make to our practice facilities. These facilities are just as important as the course itself, and we need to look after them and utilise them in the most efficient way.
We will soon be opening the area of regenerated turf for you all to hit from, and I would ask you all to please practice properly within the roped area and not just hitting from anywhere. This is so we can maximise the usage of turf and allow you to play from good turf more.
We all know how difficult it is sometimes to get a good lie down there, and if you all learn to practice properly then we can make it work. So here's my guide to hitting from the new area.
We need to hit down towards the yardage signs from the designated area
The designated area will be a strip of turf seperated by two lines of rope
Do not hit from outside this area
Preserving our range
The ideal divot pattern for faster re-growth
Here is how and how not to practice
Please be efficient with your practice by keeping your divots as close together as possible. Take each shot from the back edge of the previous divot. Move back in a line until you have reached the back of your tee station. Repeat this process by making a new line of divots near the first. This will save the turf on the tee and leave more room for the next player(s).
- Players will have to stop at times to allow other players to collect their balls.
- We will be able to increase the amount of players practicing safely at one time
Please help me make our facilities better and help others practice better. We can all make a difference.
