Greetings golfers,
What an absolute belter of an Open Championship. I don't think you will ever see a finer last day at an Open or a more deserved winner. If you look back at last week's newsletter you will see that I told you that Henrik Stenson would win and he certainly did. Hopefully you had a flutter and at 28-1 as you could have picked up a handsome sum. I didn't take my own advice and didn't bet on him, so maybe I will have to start listening to myself in the future. I was lucky enough to be at the Open on Saturday and Sunday and it is something that I will always remember for the golf and the £9 burgers.
East Kilbride GC members even managed to make their way onto Sky Sports. Yes, indeed,
Tam Leith,
Gordon Leith and
Graeme Dunne all managed to get their cheeky faces onto the TV, and even asked Paul Lawrie some great questions. Tam has been on TV a lot recently, what a gleaming smile he has, well done Tam.

EKGC helping people get round the course in style
We all know that the average age of a club member is going up, and with age comes some struggles. Some people just can't walk round the course, and with this in mind the club have brought in golf buggies for a trial period where you can hire them for a round.
This has already proved very popular with the members and guest alike. You can book the buggies by calling the shop and are priced at
£15 for members and
£24 for guests.
Young Jack does himself and the club proud
Everyone knows the McMorris family at the club and everyone knows young Jack. A more polite and lovely a young man you will not meet, and he is a very gifted golfer. Being gifted is only half the battle, and Jack devotes all of his spare time to get better at the game he loves.
All his hard work came good last week when he played in the west of Scotland Boys Championship at Mount Ellen Golf Club. After a gruelling 36 holes stroke play, Jack found himself as one of the leading qualifiers and into the matchplay knock out he went. He dispatched many great players on his way to the final and unfortunately found himself 4 down through 5 holes after a birdie assault from his opponent.
Jack brought the game back but sadly lost 2 and 1.
He narrowly missed out on bringing another National Title to our great club. Well done Jack, we are all very proud of you.
Hen Party Comes To EKGC I have seen many things at EKGC in my short time here, but last Monday at the Ladies Charity day we had a Hen Party. Yes a Hen Party, a small one at 3 but it was a Hen Party nonetheless.
If you don't believe me, then here is a snap of the bride to be.
New faces from all over the world With it being the week of The Open, we had visitors from all over the world at the club last week. We had Germans, Americans and Japanese all visit the club for a game and they all loved the golf and the welcome they received. We even had a European Tour player's dad come up for a few holes. Yes Anthony Wall's dad popped by and said he had never felt so welcome at a golf club in his life, and he has been to a few over the years whilst following his son. It is great to receive this sort of feedback in such a competitive market.
We do strive to make everyone's time at the club an enjoyable time and it feels good to know we do make a difference.
