It's Club Championship week and I've never seen the practice ground so busy with players grinding their way to a better game.
Moving swiftly on to the golf, it all kicks off this Saturday, 13 August, with the best players in the club teeing off from 7.30am for 36 holes. It's a gruelling shift for many golfers who are only used to 18 holes and this will indeed separate the wheat from the chaff. It is a great day for inspiring players to come up and watch how the elite tackle the course. It is an eye opening experience for golfers who wish to get better because you will learn so much from watching better players play. You will also get an idea of how they play each hole and it's all for free. I remember as a boy going up to Cathcart Castle Golf Club to ball spot for the Championship and Scratch Stroke-play Competition. There I watched some great players and learned so much about golf, the golf swing and course management.
Beat your Handicap and win Titleist Balls
For the Club Championship this weekend I will be offering players the chance to win Titleist golf balls. All you have to do is purchase any amount of Titleist balls, and if you beat your handicap then you will get the same amount again of balls purchased.
We will also be running this promotion during the next medal so everyone can take advantage of this great offer.

Club Championship Entertainment
You will have seen my email last week about trying to get you all up for a wee party after the Championship. Ive been told in years gone by it was a real highlight to the calendar so let's see if we can bring those days back. I will be delving into many decades of top tunes to provide you with an eclectic mix of smashing hits. This will be happening from mid-afternoon to late and in line with this we will be running a very attractive drinks promotions:
£2.50 a pint
£10 a jug of cocktail
Where else would you be on a Saturday night? The Golf club is going to be a rocking!
Come join us.
Lynx Demo Day
On Tuesday we had a very successful Lynx Demo Day where many of you took up the opportunity to be fitted to the Lynx Range. They really do offer fantastic quality clubs at an affordable price point.
Their entry level set of irons comes in at only £199, yes only £199. I had a hit of them and they were outstanding. I was very impressed with the range, click here to see it for yourself.
Furyk Shoots 58
It's not everyday somebody shoots a 58, well it's been 18 years since I had mine. Yes, I don't know if you know it because I've not mentioned it since last week. In my youth I shot a 58 round Cathcart Castle Golf Club.
Yes, I was a player back then with no distractions. But it's not about me, it's about Jim, big Jim, the Octopus falling out a tree golf swing. If this is not the biggest advert for "THERE IS NO PERFECT SWING" then I do not know what is. He, like every great player, has a predictable impact where he controls the path and club face. This is why he is good. Combine this with his ability to control where the club hits the ground and where the ball hits the face makes him a fantastic player. In the last week 100% of my lessons have covered these last two things. So to get better all you need to do is practice these two things. I covered low point in my newsletter a few months ago but here you go again.
Hamish Cormack Goes Low
Hamish Cormack loves golf and he's put in a huge amount of time and effort into his game. He has always called himself a summer golfer but last year he did try and play a bit more during the winter. He also decided to update his PING equipment from the g25 range to the g series. Hamish loves PING golf equipment but I wanted him to update to something that would give him an improvement to his ball flight. This is what we did and after a couple of months getting used to the new feel, look and ball flight of his new clubs, he went very low in last weeks medal. Again the clubs were just a little help along the way as Hamish is a very accomplished player.
It is also worth noting that Hamish is a regular at the gym and this enables him to maintain his strength and flexibility which in turn helps maintain his club head speed. This is something that everyone should consider.
Heat Wave
Just a heads up as the mercury in my barometer is starting to sizzle. Next week is meant to heat up into the 20's, wooohoo! It's going to be like Tenerife! That reminds me of a nickname we gave one of the assistant golf pros I played with in my early career. We called him Tenerife, why? Well...
HIS SCORES WERE LIKE TENERIFE'S TEMPERATURE - ALWAYS IN THE MID 80's
BOOM BOOM I'm here all night!
