Greetings,
Last week was full of disaster but this week is full of joy and success at the club. This week the club boasts anther Scottish Champion in Kenny Gallagher.
Kenny was representing Lanarkshire at the Scottish Area Team Championships at Dalmahoy Golf Club. There Kenny and the Lanarkshire team progressed through qualifying and through the knockout rounds until they met the Lothians County Team in the final.
The Lanarkshire Team won on the final putt of the day to lift the trophy.
This a real proud moment for Kenny and East Kilbride Golf Club and it is so nice to see someone who puts so much effort into his golf to be rewarded in this way.
Kenny and I have numerous chats about his golf and he has been very critical about his technique this year. I have always said that his swing is great and this is further proof Kenny that your swing is absolutely fine, so no more chats about hitting it out the toe..
Daddy Day Care
With my mum and my mother in law going away on holiday, Daddy has been called back into action. I have dusted down the Sudocream, baby wipes and nappies. But that's enough about my problems....
Logan and I have been participating in numerous sports ranging from my specialist subject "Golf" to my not so good "Football". Whereas Harris and I have been conducting experiments with tomato based sauces on cream carpets.
Click here to watch Logan on the range showing us that grip is NOT a fundamental.
It has been great to spend more time with them, and watching Logan troop off to school has left me feeling an emotional and now officially old wreck.
You may see the Bell Troop roaming about the club this week, and if I am not with them, please stop them from getting to the roundabout. They don't do well on the old roundabouts.
Getting Ready for Winter Yes, you read that correct, I am already talking about winter but just when you think everything is ok, Jack Frost will be biting you on the backside.
I see hundreds of golfers every week and it really does surprise me how unprepared players are for the elements. Last week I must have lent my brolly to at least 3 people. I still see players with non gust-buster brollies they have picked up at a corporate golf day in 1984. These give about as much protection as a Jelly Helmet.
Waterproofs are also something that players need to be educated on. They do not need to cost a fortune but they need to have some sort of stretch fabric in them to allow you to swing in them.
Ask yourself the question
"Do I like swinging a golf club with my waterproof jacket?". If the answer is no, then I would expect your waterproof jacket not to have any stretch fabric in it.
We all know it will rain at some point when you are on the course, so you will need to wear it, so make sure you feel comfortable in it.

The Magic Putter Strikes Again The interest we have had on this wand is nothing short of staggering. In the last 2 weeks we have had more requests for it than you would believe.
We have sold another 2 of them on the back of it. It really is absolutely magical.
Come in and feel the power of the wand, I dare you.
Here is a sneak peak of the 'Magic Wand'.
Problems With Publishing Medal Results To HowDidIDo Over the last few weeks we have had problems publishing results of the medals to HowDidIDo.com. Many people have come into the shop to complain and yes I understand your frustrations but we are doing all we can to make this happen.
We have one of the slowest internet connections in the UK and it has been as low as 0.01MB in the last week. To give you an idea of how slow that it, your 3G mobile phone runs at approximately 3MB-12MB and your 4G phone runs at upwards of 20MB.
Uploading results to HowDidIDo whilst our internet speed is down is sometimes impossible and is as frustrating for us as it is for you. Your handicaps are being calculated and updated every couple of days, so just because it is not uploading to howdidido does not mean that we are not processing competitions, we most certainly are.
Grant Burke,
Fraser, the rest of the council and myself have been working tirelessly to try and get things better but it is very slow progress. If you ask anyone in the Nerston Area about their internet speed, they will tell you how bad it is and we were running at 1/10th of what they had. We are currently investigating other possible solutions to combat this problem.
In the meantime if you have any questions or you would like a handicap update then please call the shop and we will help you.
We are always here to assist you.

Hole's In One Galore...
We must have increased the diameter of the hole cups in the last month as everyone seems to be getting holes in one. We have had more Ace's than the local casino.
This week
Gordon Gibbons slam dunked the funk on hole 10 and the Sparks did fly when
Dougie Spark chucked it in on hole 17.
I really can't wait to get to the bar for my free drink from you both.
Wonderful stuff.
Course Feedback We have had some excellent feedback relating to the course of late, with 2 separate visiting groups writing in to complement our course.
I ventured out on the course a couple of times this week and it really is looking great.
There is still however lots of un-repaired divots and pitch marks and you may not like to hear it but it is the members that are doing this, not visitors. I have been secretly observing you all and I have witnessed many not repairing these.
I will be approaching players who do not look after the course in the future, so you have been warned.
If you are playing with someone that neglects the course, it is your responsibility as well to make them aware of what they should do. We can all make a huge effort to make our course even better, so let's start today.
9-5 with Brad Gallacher
We all know that Brad does not work 9-5, so I am not talking about his hours of work, I am talking about his handicap reduction since I started working with him.
It is very rare for Brad to give me any praise, so I thought I would put it into print for everyone to see.
Brad is a huge character and possibly the biggest wind up merchant I have ever met, but we have one thing in common, Golf.
I have spent only a few hours with him on his game, fitting him to his new
TaylorMade M2 driver and giving him a few things to work on. That was all I did, the rest was up to him and boy didn't he do well. I am very pleased for him to get down so low so quickly and over the moon that I won't be giving him that many shots when I take him on in a big game in 2 weeks.
Stay tuned for the results of that one.
