Hello golfers,
Wow what a spectacle of good golf that was. It was unbelievable, and as much as it pains me to say it, the Americans deserved the win. And if you recall I did predict a thrashing and that's what we got.
We also were treated to a fine display of how a crowd should not act at a golf event. They were absolutely shocking with shouts of 'cheeseburger' and ridiculous derogatory remarks about players. It was maybe just a small element of fans but they were appalling. It just seems to be a very American thing, getting drunk and abusing players. It's just so not golf, and at least young Rory reported the drunken lout and got him chucked out.
The golf was sublime apart from some of Mr Clarke's questionable picks. Lee Westwood just doesn't have the same sparkle anymore and doesn't have the intimidation factor. Young Fitzpatrick was a bit out of his depth and the stars of the European side were Cabrera Bello and Pieters. It was gripping, and love him or hate him Patrick Reed was amazing. Anyone that can tame a fired up Rory has got my upmost respect and mark my words, there are majors in that boy.
St Andrews Fun
On Monday I dusted down the bats and headed to St Andrews to play the Castle Course with my friends. One of my pals was over from Dubai to caddie for his friend that is playing in the Dunhill Cup and we arranged a game.
I have been practicing quite a bit and hadn't been playing too well with the driver of late. It felt that I was holding onto an electric snake and that is not a nice feeling to have. I had to spend a lot of time trying to remember how I swung the club as a kid and what feelings I recalled when hitting the driver the best. It has been a slow process but I found great form again at the Castle Course where driving the ball accurately is a must.
My putting stroke was a bit like Lee Westwood's so that will be worked on next.
My friend had organised caddies and mine was a lovely guy but not a caddie, either that or he had been on the Rum as his lines were poor at best. That my excuse anyway.
The chap who is playing at the Dunhill is Alan Stanton and he will be partnering the South African Ulrich Van Den Berg so keep an eye out for him. He was great fun and we had an absolute blast.
The Callaway Fitting Centre I love learning and 2 weeks ago I went to the Callaway Fitting Centre in St Andrews for some more training and I am very pleased to tell you I learnt a great deal. I would say that I am one of the most knowledgeable fitters in Scotland, this is not meant to sound arrogant but it is because I love doing it so much that I strive to learn more and more.
Technology is always changing and receiving training on this new technology makes me the best person to fit you to golf clubs. Callaway will be raising the bar with their technology in the coming months, so watch this space.

First Major For Stuart Houlden He's just turned Pro and he's won his first Major in the Green Jacket. Only one problem, it was an amateur competition. Don't worry though as he was an amateur when he completed his qualifying rounds. It is worth noting that he is the 2nd Pro Shop employee to win it in as many years. So if anyone would like to do some voluntary work, then just chap my door and you to can win the Green Jacket next year.
