Greetings from Graeme Bell
Linlithgow Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Greetings,

Well what a week for me. I was fortunate enough to be invited to a product launch for Adams Golf in Northern Ireland. The weather was lovely and I got to play Royal County Down Golf Club. It was sublime, the best course I have ever played in my life in the UK. The condition was immaculate and I also hit some good shots. Two of them was when I played 2 holes with European Tour Professional 'David Howell'. I only managed a half but it was fun and he is without doubt a thoroughly nice chap! We also got to play a little course called 'Ardglass' and it was also lovely, the hospitality there was right up there as I was presented with a pint of Guinness on the 7th!

                                                                                   Wow, Royal County Down

AND THEN MY NORMAL RUN OF TERRIBLE LUCK STARTED AGAIN!

  • MY SON GOT CHICKEN POX
  • MY LAPTOP STOPPED WORKING
  • MY IPHONE GAVE UP THE GHOST
  • I LOST ALL MY NEWSLETTER VIDEOS AND SOME OF MY IMAGES I HAD DONE FOR THIS WEEKS NEWSLETTER.
  • MY MOTHER IN LAW TOOK ILL AND WE HAD NO CHILDCARE.

I know on the scale of things, these aren't life threatening but it becomes a little annoying!

At least I did not rip it up!                                                                                          David Howell

JUNIOR SUMMER CAMP

I am afraid we may have to cancel our Junior Club Golf Camp as nobody has logged onto their website to book any places. The cost of the 5 days is £43 and is an absolute bargain and is the cheapest form of childcare during the summer holidays, just for the time of the lessons, not all day! This really is the last chance or I will have to cancel it. The classes are for all 9-13 year olds and will run from 7th July- 11th July. You must follow this link to register.

KITCHEN OPENING HOURS

On a Saturday morning I see many of you bringing up rolls to the club for your breakfast but you won't need to do that now as the Kitchen will be open on Saturdays from 8am serving the best rolls on the planet. In order for this to continue we really do need you all to support Karen and the staff, so if you can then please do.

IS YOUR DRIVER TOO LONG?

Over the last 2 months we have conducted some research into driver length and it's relationship to distance. The longer the club the higher the club head speed but that doesn't mean more ball speed and that's what we are after. Ball speed will only go up if the ball is struck out of the sweet spot of the club. Manufacturers are now making the drivers longer and this is because the clubs are tested when they are swung by machines like the 'PING MAN'. These machines hit the ball out the middle of the club every time and therefore are not affected by a clubs length. So longer club = more distance. We unfortunately are not machines and we need help to hit the ball out the middle, so therefore if we keep the driver length down, we can get better results. The biggest thing that you need to know is; 'The players on the tour are not using the same length of driver that manufacturers are putting on the shelf'.

If you struggle with distance and would like to know if your driver is too long, then click here to get in touch for a free assessment.
