I'm afraid that it's here, the time has come to look out your yellow balls and dispatch the winter wardrobe from the attic. It was absolutely freezing on Saturday, but the sales of winter hats went through the roof, so every cloud..


 

Are You Ready For Winter? 

Every golfer needs a winter wardrobe and when you are 590 metres above sea level, you can experience some rather chilly weather. Here's my tips:

1. Owning a base-layer is a must have for every golfer. I would suggest a golf specific one as these are a little less tight. I have witnessed many people trapped in tight base-layers in the locker room and very nearly had to call the fire brigade twice. 

2. Winter mitts are something that could save you frost bite and if you find these a little cumbersome then why not invest in some thermal golf gloves that you can play in. 

3. An insulated beanie hat. There is a huge difference between a hat from yesteryear and a modern one. If you have not updated yours for a while then you should consider it. A warm napper is a healthy one 

4. In previous newsletters I have highlighted that good waterproofs are so important and lets face it, we get rain, the stuff that soaks you. 

5. A snood, yep you heard me right, a snood is a fantastic way to keep ones neck and face protected from the East wind. This has probably been the newest addition to players wardrobes in recent years. 

6. Shoes, good shoes with good studs, waterproof ones. If you would like to have more support for your ankle and more traction on slippery ground then why don't you consider a winter boot.

A New Addition to The Professional Shop 

I am a big believer in trying to provide you all with all the services that you would expect from a golf club professional shop and much more. The club and I listen to all of your feedback and I am very pleased to announce that I am installing a Fresh Bean-To-Cup Coffee Machine in the pro shop. 

This machine is for take-away coffees for you to enjoy on the golf course. We will even deliver them to the 10th tee for you on those freezing days. It is something that will allow you to drive straight to the club in the morning and not have to stop off anywhere on your way, meaning more time at the club to enjoy your golf. 

The coffee from the machine is top class and will provide you with your coffee fix during your round. 

Just to remind you that this is purely a take-away product and not to be consumed in the clubhouse. Pop in and have a try.




Chipping Area 

I think you will all agree that our short game area is now first class and something to be proud of. To keep this area in top condition, you all must repair the pitch marks you make on it. 

You do make pitch marks when you chip believe me, and I would encourage anyone who sees people not doing it, to politely inform the offending players that they need to look after our facilities.
