Greetings,
I came back from my little trip away to be greeted with a mountain of broken golf trolleys, so big it eclipsed the mountain of dead golf trolley batteries. Armed with a spanner and more endurance than Mo Farah on Nandrolin, I tackled them and then proceeded to cry for a bit. I thought my prevous week of bad luck was continuing when I was told by the Apple Store genius that my phone was beyond repair. He was no genius as I managed to watch a YouTube video then disassemble the phone and bath every single complex piece in 99% alcohol. You would think that this would completely wreck it, but no I only went and fixed it! So I have now found a new string to my bow, so much so I may have to purchase a new guitar!
NEVER CHUNK YOUR WEDGES AGAIN
Here is another instructional video for you all on wedge play. I guarantee it is an absolute cracker and will improve your wedges!
THE LINLITHGOW OPEN
The Open was held on Saturday and it was a booming success with 180 players from all over Scotland playing in it. A big thanks to all the volunteers who helped run the competition from the shop, without them this would not have been the success it was. These volunteers were led by Commander Jimmy Gilfeather, one of Linlithgow's treaters servants. The course was fantastic as usual thanks to Grant and his team and the praise for our club in general was excellent.
The Bell and Cammy stable had a few success stories from the day also. Our newly appointed Junior Convenor Stephen Marshall shot an amazing gross 69 less 8 handicap for a 61!!! Cammy had been helping Stephen in the lab last month with his swing.
Young Scott Logan I have worked with over the years and before he played on Saturday I spent some time fitting him to a driver and working on his swing in the lab. We had been working on his ball striking with his driver as he had been getting strikes from the heel. When you hit the ball out of the heel of the driver, you tend to get the lowest ball speed possible, which is not good for a player who swings it over 100mph. It made his golf balls come of the face with very low launch and very high spin which equals short distance! So we gave him 2 simple thoughts to take from the course and a temporary driver that was to his specs measured. He then shot level par off 5 and took the second place! Well done kid and I am on 10%!
Our ex member and club champion Stuart McMehen had a full set of custom irons hand built by myself last month and put them to good use shooting a 2 under gross 68.
We really do know how to help your golf!!!

TRAINING
My new assistant Cammy is doing great and he's a great addition to our team here at Linlithgow. Over the next few months I will be spending every spare minute I can with him to help him train up on all aspects of being a PGA Professional and on the other aspects of his job here. I would please ask you all to be patient with me as I won't be able to give you all as much individual attention as I would like. This is only so we can maximize the level of service we deliver to you each day.
BILL CRAIGIE BOWLS US ALL OVER
A non-golf related story but a very good one none the less. One of members 'Bill Craigie' has more talents than just golf and doing a highland jig after a couple of drams. He has just captured the Brit-ish Seniors Bowling Championship. I think I may have got the full title wrong but he sure is good at bowls. Well done Bill!
FILM AND FOOD REVIEW
Yes you read the title right, I'm going to do a Film and Food Review. So here it goes:
FILM : POSTMAN PAT
VERDICT: IT'S ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE - DON'T SEE IT - NO STARS
RESTAURANT : FRANKIE & BENNYS
VERDICT : IT'S ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE - DON'T GO THERE - NO STARS
Sorry but I had to tell you all and warn you about making the same mistake that I did on Sunday!
MONTY HAS A SENIOR MOMENT
Thankfully for Colin Montgomery it was a Major Golf Title! A Senior USPGA Title for the big greet-ing faced Scot. I actually do like him a lot and always wanted him to win a big major title when he was playing on the main tour. Love him or hate him he has been an ambassador of golf in Scotland for years and I tip my hat to him. He actually made me aware that I could press the red button on Sky and get more golf as I frantically searched for the coverage!
