Greetings,
There are two things that we all take for granted and one is our health for sure. The second is without doubt our central heating system. After the Burns Supper, which I will go into later, I got home and my old boiler was playing up (steady now). So as all testosterone fueled men would do, I tried to fix it by rotating and pulling at a few things. It will therefore come to no surprise that I managed to break one of the knobs off of the boiler.
Then I did what everyman would do, I tried to pull the other one off to then utilise that one as the on off control. This compounded my misery as it became detached also. I was left with not only no heating or hot water but also a rather unhappy wife and two freezing children. In the morning I called the shop to get Stuart on the case and he located a member who is a heating engineer and who will remain nameless. This chap is now known as "The Boiler Genius" as he fixed my boiler. He doesn't normally do household work so I owe him a great deal of thanks. Thank you Boiler Genius!
Burner Supper
I love a night out and this was my third Burns Supper in a row without being barred. Last year I was doing "Dry January" and although this year I am doing a "Fit January" I decided to test out the effects of Wine and Beer. I am pleased to report that I was very well behaved and no hangover was experienced.
I was wearing a Kilt for the Burns Supper and it was the first time my boys had seen me wearing our National Dress. They actually did think i was wearing dress at first but after a little chat and history lesson they understood. So much so that Logan showed a huge interest in getting one. I did say that he may get one when he is a little older but that wasn't good enough for him as the next morning he made one out of paper without our knowledge. Please see picture above.
The night itself was absolutely brilliant and the speakers were great. Captain Ross and Vice-Captain Ian were excellent and the guest of honor Danny McKinley was his usual comical self. The only disappointing part of the night was realising that the two men behind the scenes were calling it a day after a number of years' service. Ronnie Watson and Ian Henderson are the two gents who have gone above and beyond over the years to provide the members of EKGC with many great nights. Nobody can fix a microphone system like Ian and nobody can get away with taking the Michael out of my newsletters like Ronnie. They will be sadly missed and I would like to thank them again for all their hard work. The only thing left to say is:
"YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!"
Who will replace the dynamic duo? If you think you have what it takes then please get in contact!
The Golf Lab
Hopefully you will be able to make it to my presentation about the golf lab we will be bringing to East Kilbride Golf Club. It will be a joint venture between the club and myself where we will be bringing an indoor golfing solution to all the members at EKGC. It will provide you all with a huge range of services from golf club fitting to playing the world's most famous golf courses.
It will provide everyone with a golfing solution no matter the weather or time of day. It will allow us to help generate more revenue form untapped sources and allow us to attract more people to our already great facility. We will be providing services that no other club in the area is providing and therefore give you more value to your membership. These are very exciting times for myself and the club and you as members and I very much look forward to showcasing my skills and expertise to another level.
Clubs for Cash
All I can say is that this promotion has gone absolutely nuts with so many of you bringing in your old clubs. This promotion takes all the hassle away from having to sell them on EBay or Gumtree and we just simply credit your accounts with the money we get from them. So simple!
