Greetings,
Its 4 weeks until the Masters and that means that the season is nearly upon us. The build up to the Masters is when you all start getting excited about golf, the clubs come out of storage and you clean out your golf bag. Most of the time you will just be dealing with an old banana but some of you may even find yourself face to face with a mouse.
Either way, this may be an ideal time to treat yourself to a new golf bag. In the coming weeks we will be giving you the opportunity to trade in your old golf bag against a nice new shiny one. This promotion will be on selected bags, so pop in to see what takes your fancy.
Bell Family Day Out
As a dad of two young children, Sunday days out are a weekly occurrence and every week we try and find somewhere new. This week the "Griswolds" I mean "The Bells" got in our station wagon and headed off to Hamilton and into the Park of Chatelherault! What a park it is and what fun we had.
When Brad Gallacher told me about this place he jogged in, I thought he was making it up. Not the jogging as I know he doesn't, I thought he had made the name of it up. I've lived a sheltered life in the Southside of Glasgow and the only park I've ever really known is the one up the road from me, so from now on, I'm going "Park spotting".
Our Winter Junior Coaching Program Comes To An End
After 14 weeks our Tuesday Night Junior Coaching has come to an end. We have been pretty lucky with the weather and the enthusiasm all the children have showed has been amazing as usual. The progression we have witnessed over the winter has been great and the new friendships that have blossomed has also proven that what we do is so valuable to encouraging children to play the game. We have had many stars and far too many to mention.
Next year we will be changing the structure as we will have our very own Golf Lab to hold the coaching. The groups will be smaller and we will be able to give all our future stars the most comprehensive learning environment, plus it will be warm!
Easter Junior Program (FREE Coaching For All Junior Members)
This year we are going to be running a fantastic Easter Junior Coaching Program.
The coaching will be running every day from Monday, 3 April till Friday, 7 April. We will be running 3 classes, one for beginners, one for more experienced players and I will be running one for the lower handicap players. This means that we cater for every single Junior we have!
We will be covering everything from rules & etiquette right up to technical aspects of the golf swing. This is a unique opportunity for all our Juniors to get to know one another and play better golf.
Classes will be as follows:
Beginners - 10-10.45am
Intermediate Players - 11-11.45am
Elite Players - 12-12.45pm

The Big Build
Over the last week the foundations have been curing and today the steel work has started to go up. It is very exciting to see the build happen day on day and every night I am trying to coordinate how the inside will look. The technology has been ordered and we are in the process of drawing up our Operating Plan.
The interest in the "Swing Lab" is huge and I really believe it is going to help us strengthen our position as a club and our offerings to you the member. I was one of the first independent Professionals to purchase a ball tracking device 10 years ago and at that time many of my peers scoffed at me. They didn't believe you needed such equipment to custom fit and they were so wrong in their judgement.
It is only in recent years that my fellow professionals have invested in ball tracking systems and this year I will be raising the bar with what I am bringing here to East Kilbride Golf Club. So get ready!
New Rules
Our wonderful Rules Organisation have brought out some fantastic new rules and some completely ridiculous ones. I am not going to go into them all but many of them are now in place to speed up things. I think that instead of dancing around the daisies, they should just penalise slow play more and make it easier for penalties to be imposed on slow players by their playing partners.
The first step would be to penalise more Tour Professionals on tour and make them complete their rounds in no more than 4 hours! I think every single golfer and golf club would benefit from this and it would help us all play more golf in a reasonable time frame. A win win for everyone but not the Royal and Ancient apparently!

The New Cleveland RTX 3 Wedge
Cleveland have been making quality wedges since I was a boy, yes that long! The new RTX wedge range is absolutely stunning with its modern sleek and crisp design. It is definitely something which you could fall in love with, so please no divorces!
The big thing that Cleveland do that other wedge companies don't, is that they actually provide a fitting solution for them. Sounds crazy to think that the likes of Titleist don't but they honestly don't. Another great thing about the Cleveland Wedges is that they are the most reasonable priced on the market.
