Greetings,
Just when spring has sprung, the dark lord of winter slaps you on the back of the head. I still find it amazing how we as a country can't deal with snow better. When I say us, I do mean our local councils and transport authority. If my phone gives me a snow and ice warning 24 hours in advance then surely that gives them enough time to start their engines and get the gritters out there. Neither my road nor the main roads around me had be gritted and there were more slides in operation than the local adventure playground.
I do also think it's everyone's responsibility to know how to drive a car in the snow properly and which hills or roads to attempt in such situations. I watched a person in a Mercedes accelerate vigorously going down a very steep hill next to a school this morning and no she didn't manage to stop in time before the kerb. There are so many parents who would actually drive into the classroom if they could save that extra little bit of effort. I think I am getting on my soapbox but I am sure we have all experienced this before.
Golf on a Busy Course Can Take Under 3 Hours on a Saturday
Last Saturday I ventured down to the coast for a game with two of my friends. We played the "Fullerton Course" which is one the Troon Links Courses. It is short but quite a nice layout and guess what, they had two winter greens also. The place was absolutely jam packed with loads of 4 balls and the players weren't exactly single figures but we got round in under 3 hours! We were off at 10am so it wasn't exactly at the crack of dawn. There was no dithering and I actually saw many players telling their friends to get a move on. What it showed me was that slow play is totally unnecessary and the slow players are in the minority.
What these players did was identify their slow players and made them speed up. I don't think that this is done enough during the medal rounds at any club and something that we need to get people to do. So if you would like to have quicker medal rounds then you really need to help the slower players realise that they need to speed up. This can be done politely and in an encouraging way as all we are trying to do is help them. Imagine being able to have a round in a medal in say 3.5 hours and that will be the biggest encouragement you need to make a difference.

Bag Trade-In
Its 2 weeks until the Masters and that means that the season is nearly upon us. The build up to the Masters is when you all start getting excited about golf, the clubs come out of storage and you clean out your golf bag. Most of the time you will just be dealing with an old banana but some of you may even find yourself face to face with a mouse.
Either way, this may be an ideal time to treat yourself to a new golf bag. In the coming weeks we will be giving you the opportunity to trade in your old golf bag against a nice new shiny one. This promotion will be on selected bags, so pop in to see what takes your fancy.

The Walls Are Going Up
Even in the snow, the builders were powering through with the big build. The shop walls started going up and what a sight it is. The build is very much on schedule and I am working day and night to make sure that the lab is going to be the best it can be.
There are so many different things to think about from socket placements to how fast the computers processor will be, but rest assured we will get there. If you have any skills that you believe could help me in the coming weeks then please contact me.
