Greetings,
The Sun is shining and the weather is hot. The smell of coconut suntan lotion is in the air and the clocks have gone forward. Welcome to summer ladies and gentleman!
There were hundreds of smiley faces on Saturday as the first competition got underway. My newsletter last week must have done the trick as many of you were completing your rounds in under 3 hours 30 minutes. Either that or you've all been involved with the British Cycling Association's doctor, nudge nudge wink wink.
What a difference a little bit of sun makes to the world, I almost wheeled out the barbecue and sparked open the elderflower wine. I get so excited thinking about temperatures over 10 degrees and not wearing a vest under my 4 sweaters to work. I like the simple things you see.
First Competition A Huge Success
It was so great to see you all come out of hibernation on Saturday and to see all of our new members taking to the course. A big welcome to you all and if you need any assistance then please just pop by or drop me and email.
The course has had an absolute thumping of rain over the last few weeks and it was great to see the place looking so good. Now I understand that the greens aren't running super true and are slow but think about it, it's March and the weather has been wet and mild. The course has also been open more than ever before resulting in more golfers playing.
Just to point out, every course has to aerate their greens and the little holes we put into ours are not actually called coring. Our greens have virtually no thatch which means we don't need to do much with them compared to others. Greens at Troon, Archerfield, Gleneagles etc. all have to do greens work so please understand this.
1st place: 77 points BIH - W B McDonald, Gerald Traynor, John Thomson
2nd place: 77 points - Derek Hancock, Brian Starr, Ian Duff
3rd place: 75 points - Mark Dempsie, Allan Dempsie, Chris Callaghan
Hole In One For Ian Collins
First of all, a big apology to Ian for not getting this in the newsletter sooner. Ian scored an ace a few weeks ago and he was smiling from ear to ear when he came into the shop that day. Most people after they get a hole in one, scuttle off without buying drink for their playing partners, but not Ian.
Ian knew that most of his friends wouldn't take a drink as they were driving home, so he bought them all a sleeve of golf balls. What an absolute legend! How many guys would do that, not many. The only downside for Ian is that everyone now wants to play with him just in case he does it again. Well, done Ian!
Swing Lab Progress
The shape of the lab is now there for you all to see and the outside brickwork is starting to go up, so we are well on track!
Stuart and I are way this week on a training course down in Leeds which will deal with the fantastic technology I will be installing. We will be listening to some of the best minds in golf and they will be listening to the complete best mind in golf (me!)
I am not joking when I say this but you guys are going to be completely blown away with the technology when you see it.
Under Armour and Galvin Green Collections
The Spring/Summer Under Armour collections have started to arrive in-store and we have been working hard to get everything out on display for you. Both collections are absolutely stunning and will make you look good on and off of the golf course.
We have also for the first time decided to stock the Under Armour Junior Collection which is something that every Junior would love to wear. With Easter coming up why not treat your Junior to a new polo shirt rather than an unhealthy Chocolate Egg!
