Greetings,
Last weekend saw the crowning of Linlithgow Golf Clubs greatest players of 2014. The Club Championship had run all week and the climax was the Finals on Sunday. I as usual refereed the morning round of the 1st Class Championship where young Fraser Smith took on the raw power of Alex Marshall. The final was a very popular one with early crowds developing from the outset. May I say how nice it was to see two great golfers have absolutely no arrogance in the way they played the game. This is something which in my experience is sometimes forgotten by players who think that they are better than the game and I can assure you that Fraser and Alex did themselves prawns in the way they conducted themselves. We were treated to some great golf with Alex smashing the ball further than I have ever seen anyone do before and Fraser rolling more putts in than Ben Crenshaw in his prime! Alex eventually came through with a great victory of 9 up with 7 to play in the 36 hole match. I can honestly say that Alex is the best ball striker I have seen at the club this year and I hope that his year as Champion is a very fruitful one.
The other finals were held in great spirits also with everyone saying that the course is the best they have ever seen it. Grant and his staff have done such a wonderful job preparing the course for the clubs biggest week of golf.
In the Junior final we saw young Jack Gallagher, son of the European Tour Player 'Stephen Gallagher' come out on top against Fraser Stewart. Luckily for Jack, Stephen intentionally missed the cut at the US Open and came along to the Prize Giving to see his boy lift the trophy aloft. Stephen did complement the condition of our course and at how good the greens were.

PROFESSIONALS DAY
There are many days in your calendar that are special, birthdays, anniversaries etc but not one is bigger than Professionals Day. The day where everyone plays for biggest prize fund of the year. You can play with members, guests or both as long as they have a valid handicap. The format last year of a Texas Scramble (team of 4) was a huge hit and this will be the same format this year. There will be a few changes to make it more interesting for everyone.
Teams can be made up of men, women or both. The entry is £10 each and all of the entry fund will be paid out in prizes on the day. There will also be mystery prizes which will blow you all away.
TIMES ARE FILLING UP FAST SO GET IN QUICK
Last year saw Professionals day break all sorts of records at Linlithgow.
o Biggest filed ever for a one day competition
o Most empty bottles of Budweiser found on a golf course
o Biggest prize fund
This year we hope to go one better and launch a man a man into space, Phil nearly achieved this last year after having 4 pints of Best and a Babysham. I will be keeping him under control with a taser this year, I can assure you.
Just as last year, entries will be taken on a first come first serve basis and tee times can only be secured when payment is made. So if you have a particular tee time you would like then please come into the shop as soon as!
STRIKE IT MORE OUT THE TOE FOR MORE DISTANCE WITH THE DRIVER
Yes, you read that right. You need to hit slightly more towards the toe of a modern driver to get the most ball speed-fact. How do I know this well, we use radar to track the ball and we can measure what happens from each shot hit from different locations? The place where you certainly don't want to hit it, is from the heel and low as you will get the lowest ball speed coupled with low launch, high spin and you will tilt the ball more to the right- BAAAAAAAD NEWS. This can result in you losing 30 yards! So you really need to know where you are hitting it out of the face for you to maximize your distance and consistency.
BUY 2 SLEEVES OF TITLEIST AND GET ONE FREE - BOOOOOOOM
This a real cracking deal for you on Titleist DT Solo and Titleist Velocity balls, buy 6 balls and get 3 free. If you require more control then I would suggest going for the solo ball and if you require some more yardage under your bonnet then I would go for the velocity. This deal will not be on forever so again get in quick!
BUY A SCOTTY CAMERON PUTTER & GET 1 DOZEN PRO V1 BALLS & A LESSON ABSOLUTELY FREE SAVE £80!!!!

DO YOU HAVE GAPS IN YOUR WEDGE DISTANCES?
Ask yourself the following questions!
o Do you know how far you hit your wedges?
o Is there any particular yardage that you struggle to manage with?
o Is there any particular lie you struggle to hit your wedges from?
o Is there a particular shot you struggle to hit?
If these questions are relevant to you and you need help then I am offering you a full wedge analysis session for just £15. In the session we will use radar and pin point your strengths and weaknesses.
LETS ALL DO THE GERMANATOR
The powerful German 'Martin Kaymer' blew the field away with his great golf and we can learn a lot from him. I of on a on about how much of the instruction in the past has been incorrect and here is another beauty for you.
KEEP YOUR REAR LEG FLEXED FOR MORE POWER
The reality is that every good player will release some of their rear leg flex in their backswing. This allows you to turn your hips which in turn allows you to turn your shoulders. Have a look at how much Kaymer does it and he bombs it. Some people say that when someone does this, they are not flexible or fit enough to keep it flexed. I DON'T THINK YOU COULD SAY THIS TO MR KAYMER!
