Greetings,
Well what a week I have had. My life is somewhat exciting at times and I would always say I'm lucky in all the important things in life like health and family but disaster does follow me about. With the break in last month I didn't think that things could get much worse but unfortunately it did. My wife Hilary turned 40 and before you say it, yes I know she looks younger than me. I, the romantic devil, brought us tickets for "Take That" at the Hydro, not only that but I sold off the family silverware and got her VIP tickets.
Picture the scene as I tell her over a glass of wine that we are not only going to Take That but we've got great tickets. Then picture my chest puffed out as I think of myself as a cross between "Julio Iglesias" and "David Beckham." This combined with a jive like walk from the restaurant to the doors of the Hydro made me the man of the moment. I then handed my tickets of golf over the man who beeped them with here gadget and said "We are VIP." to which he replied
"AYE LAST NIGHT MATE"
These words will haunt me forever and definitely not what I was expecting nor did the line of 30 middle aged women behind me who let out a harmonic gasp of
"OOOOOOOOOH NOOOOOOOOOOO"
The colour drained from my slightly round face as the stark realisation hit home of me having to explain to my mother in-law that I had completely ruined her youngest daughters 40th birthday. Not only that, I then remembered that I had bought my sister in-law's tickets for her and her friend. They had been out in Glasgow in the afternoon, posting pictures of how they were excited about seeing the boys from "Take That" but unfortunately I had taken that completely away from them.
I bet you're asking "How did he do that?" and do you know what, I have no idea. I have had a lot to deal with after the break in and with the work associated with the swing lab but I think it's to do with downloading my tickets on the day and not having them sent to my house. This is what I am sticking to anyway. So what did I do? I did what any man would do in this situation, I ordered a large drink in a bar and then tried to contact "Gary Barlow" through twitter. I emptied my soul out and tried my best to tug at his heartstrings, completely to no avail I may add.
There was a happy ending right enough as the lovely staff at the venue got us all in and we actually got better seats! I did age quite a bit over the weekend but I have still got a couple of years until I'm 40!
The Big Build
The building is finished and it looks as good as we promised. The scaffolding is down and we are almost back to normality!
The inside of the building is now up to myself and "Stevie Moran." I know there are lots of great joiners at the club but I can honestly say that "Stevie" is a fantastic joiner, in fact he's more than a joiner, he's a technician of quality. I've made that name up but he has been amazing.
So the inside is getting kitted out and we are only a couple of weeks away from opening the doors to the best indoor golf lab in Scotland. I am being very honest when I say this as we have left no stone unturned in creating this bespoke place for you all to benefit from. We are using the only technology that works seamlessly inside and outdoors and this came at a rather large expense. This was the only way to do it correctly and that is exactly what we did.
You as members will be given a members loyalty card and you will benefit from the cheapest rates available from the room. You can play on the simulator from just over £6.70 an hour per person and this is truly amazing considering the technology you will be using. We have set up new social media pages for the "Golf Lab" so please like and follow us if that's your bag. If not then just keep up to date with my newsletters.
Professionals Day 2017
We have had an influx of people wanting to book our sponsored times for "Professionals Day 2017" and this is mainly due to the fun and success we have made it over the last 2 years. Every year we have raised the bar with our levels of service and overall experience. We look at this day as our very own tour event for our members and give it 110% every year. I've got lots of wonderful things lined up for you all!
The cost is £10 per person and the format will be teams of 2 players in a better ball format.
So the big event tee booking goes live on BRS on Monday, 22 May, so get those computers, phones and tablets at the ready!
If you would like to secure your tee time for the big day then we have limited sponsored times available and they are limited. These cost £65 per tee time and can be booked directly through myself.
The feedback we have had from the last two years has been epic, so do not miss out!!!
50 Years of Nerston
What a weekend of fun and entertainment we had celebrating 50 years of our course being at Nerston. It was great to see the place so busy over the 3 days and so nice to see families up together enjoying the game and just the whole ambience of our great club. The weather held up for the Trick Shot Clinic and it was great to see the brave volunteers try out so many different and somewhat whacky shots.
There were so many great volunteers from the club who made this weekend possible and to be honest they often don't get the recognition they deserve. It is sometimes a thankless task but believe me when I say that I see so many of them give up so many hours per week to the club without anyone really noticing. As I've said, without these volunteers then these sort of events could not and would not take place. Well done to you all and here's to many more years of fun and golf.
Complete Equipment Solution
We want to make buying new equipment from us an enjoyable process, one which leads to you playing better golf in the long run. This is why we've teamed up with TaylorMade, PING & Mizuno to offer you the Complete Equipment Solution throughout April to June.
How does a FREE custom fitting and FREE lesson sound?
It's so important for golfers of all abilities - particularly amateurs, who have far more to gain - to get custom fitted, as opposed to leaving it to chance, like you'd be doing if you bought standard spec clubs straight off the shelf.
You really have nothing to lose. We will help you to get the most out of any new equipment through a thorough custom fitting process before you buy, followed by a lesson to see you on your way.
Come and speak to us in-store if you're interested, but remember this offer is only available until the end of June.
