Greetings,
The golf club has been buzzing lately and the course is fantastic. The World Cup hasn't dented your love of golf but to be fair, the late kick offs have certainly helped. The football has actually been pretty entertaining and no I'm not just talking about England getting knocked out and not winning a game. Sorry Phil and the rest of my English friends or ex-friends as the case may be now. Have you noticed how the camera men seem to be zooming in on extremely attractive women jumping up and down? I think it's absolutely scandalous. I'm horrific at lying! To even things out I will be jumping up and down during all the ladies medals this week, so get ready ladies!
THE RYDER CUP IS COMING TO LINLITHGOW
Yes, you read it correctly, the ACTUAL RYDER CUP TROPHY is coming to Linlithgow Golf Club at approximately 11.30 on Tuesday 8th July. We are running a summer Club Golf Scotland Camp and we have been selected to have a visit from the real Trophy. If you would like to see it in all its glory then just pop up to the club on Tuesday!!
UNDER ARMOUR
Last week I was invited to go and view the latest and future collections for Under Armour and they are unbelievable. They are the fastest growing brand in sport and they are not a clothing company. They are an 'Innovation Company' as everything they bring to market is completely innovative. They brought the world compression mocks and numerous other bright ideas to make our lives easier. They are growing so fast that they may be bigger than Nike in a few years. Shoes and sunglasses are coming your way soon and they are going to be earth shatteringly good.
PROFESSIONALS DAY IS FULL
Last weekend saw the UK's biggest music festival take place, this weekend sees the UK's best Professionals day take place! I love fun and that is what Professionals Day is all about. It is now completely full and that means we are in for a full day of fun. It is a Texas scramble format and this is such as relaxed format, the only pressure you will feel is figuring out where my beer tent is! The weather is looking sunny so fingers crossed we'll need the sun tan lotion!

CUSTOM FITTING IS IMPORTANT BUT SO IS THE BUILD
In this day and age we all know how important custom fitting is and it really is super important. Unfortunately, what we are seeing is the build of the golf clubs not matching the specifications of the order placed. In simple terms
CLUB MANUFACTURERS ARE NOT CHECKING THE BUILD OF THEIR CLUBS!!!
I know that this is horrific, but it is true.
This week we sent back two sets of irons which did not match the specs ordered with 2 leading brand companies. The technology and the quality of components cannot be called into question, however the way they are putting them together does not match their attention to detail in research and development. I spoke to a leading manufacturer's custom fitting manager about this and he said that if they had 100 orders in one day, they would rather every single order went out and 20 were wrong. They classed that as collateral damage!!! Unbelievable and not how a customer deserves to get treated.
I can assure you that I check all of the clubs that come into us before we give them to a customer.
I can also assure you that no online company does this and very few professionals actually do this. Last year a member at the club got some irons from an online retailer and brought them to me to adjust the length, which is absolutely not a problem and is a service that I can offer you. When I was checking the clubs original length before altering them I noticed that they were 3/4 inch shorter than standard. These clubs had been sold as a standard length set of clubs and were blatantly not the correct length! This is what happens when no care is taken in selling clubs online.
It takes quite a bit of time to do and requires expensive equipment to measure the clubs and this is why many pros and online companies don't do it. Manufacturers really don't have any excuse. I would like to reinforce that some companies are much better than others!!
All I can say to you is, we get you the correct specifications on your clubs to match your fit, sometimes we have to send them back and this can take longer than expected. I just want you to get the best.
Have a look at this video and here the shocking truth!
