A week of massive golfing proportions has passed us by. Over 400 players played on our hallowed turf between Friday and Sunday and we also experienced 3 different weather systems.
On Friday we had Jock Simpsons famous corporate day and what a day it was. Before I tell you all about it, let's just talk about Jock and how much he does for Linlithgow Golf Club. His day every year brings thousands of pounds into the club and his support over the years has allowed Linlithgow to flourish. Jock you deserve a great deal of credit for all you do and thanks again. Now onto how the competition went. Let me take you back 4 years, I was driving Jock up to the practice area for a lesson and the practice area was covered in daises. Me being me I turned to Jock and said "Crikey Jock look at all those Daises". Jock then turned to me in disgust and went, "Whit you on". From that day on I was christened "DAISY BELL". Not the name you want to be known as but I took it on the chin.
Now let me fast forward to Friday's competition where the name "Daisy Bell" was top of the leaderboard! The Daisy Bell Team was my sponsored team and was headed up by Phil Whelam and they shot the lights out. Then they proceeded to drink the lights out during a marathon session lasting around 10 hours. Jock, Daisy Bell finally got the last laugh pal and thanks again for your support.
PAUL WINS THE MEDAL, IT WAS A GIVEN, NO SORRY A MCGIBBON
Paul one of newest members shot the lights out with a nett 61 in last week's stroke play competition. The boy done good but the boy needed some weapons to shoot those lights out and I the master craftsman created a wonderful set of bats for him. Before we made them, we fitted him to them in our golf lab using our state of the art radar system. We matched him to head, shaft, grip, lie angle and loft. The rest is history and so is his high handicap. Well done Paul, you da man!

IAN SHIELLS WINS THE DICK DOLAN MEMORIAL TROPHY
Ian Shiells form peaked on Sunday when he took the spoils in the Dick Dolan Trophy. Ian was a good friend of Dick Dolan who sadly passed away a few years ago, so it was very fitting for him to win the competition. It was also nice that his other old pal 'Eric Flemming" finished second. Ian made me laugh in the shop when I handed over his voucher as he confessed that he didn't know it was a stableford competition, he thought it was a medal! Well done Ian!
THE BOSS BOBBY HOGG WINS AGAIN
Bobby Hogg has had more wins than Rory McIlroy recently and he's had more brown envelopes than the whole of FIFA. Bobby I really think you may have to get another paper recycling bin for the house for all those envelopes.
JIM RICHARDSON GETS A HOLE IN ONE
Jim Richardson bears an uncanny resemblance to "Blakey" from the sitcom "On The Buses" and he was feeling just the ticket when he aced the 8th hole here at Linlithgow GC. It was great, no it was better than that.
It was BLAKEY MARVELLOUS!
Now Jim, please enter the twos and sweep next time as you are bang on form!
