New Look Shop

A lot of work has been carried out in the shop over the past few weeks as we look to bring you THE PUTTING LAB. We have blocked off part of the shop and this will now be our putting teaching & practise facility using SAM PuttLab. The information we can get from this machine is amazing and will go a long way in helping improve your putting stroke.

I will be holding a SAM PuttLab trial evening on Wednesday 7th November from 4pm-9pm so if you would like to find out how SAM can help you then get in touch and book your spot for Wednesday.

As I embark on my final year of my PGA training I will begin to do a lot more teaching and fitting over the coming months. Cam's The Champ

There has been a lot of talk this week about last week’s winner on the PGA tour Cameron Champ. For those of you who haven't heard of him, he is another young American looking to burst onto the scene! However, on the Web.com tour last year he AVERAGED 343 Yards off the tee! He swings the driver at 130mph and reaches ball speeds of 190+mph. These numbers are phenomenal and with the emergence of Cameron I think there will be a few more follow him in the next few years.

Distance has become a big part of golf and is something I am working on over the winter myself and I can help you too. Using SUPERSPEED STICKS last year I managed to go from 104mph to 110mph. This found me about 15-18 yards of extra carry difference which was a massive help to my golf. In fact the champion golfer of the year himself Francesco Molinari has gained 8mph in swing speed this year which has led to him having the best year of his career. So if you want to improve your distance then come in and have a chat with me in the pro shop.

Course news

Take Care Of The Course

Now we are into the winter months it’s very important to take care of the course every time you play. There are many things you can do to help keep the course up to a good standard.

Why not carry your clubs instead of taking your trolley. We have both PING and Titleist pencil bags for SALE in the shop and using one of these instead of a trolley can be a big help to the course at this time of year.

Or if you still want to use your trolley why not invest in a set of winter wheels? We have wheels for both Motocaddy and PowaKaddy trollies or you can buy winter wheel covers which are available at a cheaper price.

Doing this will make a big difference to the playability of the course over the winter so please do your part in helping!

Junior golf

Junior Coaching

This year’s junior coaching for the winter months is starting this Sunday 4th November. Juniors will be split into classes with juniors of a similar ability and age this year so we can try and build relationships within the club to keep them attending regularly.

If your child is interested in coaching over the winter then please register your interest with us in the pro shop and we will send you more information.

What do you take from this?

As golfers, there's nothing more satisfying than a shot which is perfectly executed - even if it is a rare occurrence for many of us. It could be a booming drive which splits the fairway down the middle, or maybe a wedge shot which stops dead, two feet away from the hole. In fact, when you consider how often we use our wedges during a round of golf - see the graph below - the latter is something that we should all be striving to achieve.

So, what do you take from the graph above? In our eyes, it highlights just how important your short game is. We see a lot of you spending time hitting balls on the range, which is great, but don't neglect the less glamorous side of the game when practising - it's where your score is 'made'.

We can't stress the benefits of having wedges that are suited to every aspect of your game either.
