OLE OLE OLE OLE OLE
What a weekend of drama, fun, controversy and all in the name of golf. We just love the Ryder Cup don't we. We eat sleep and breathe golf and the Ryder Cup is as much a part of us as the blood in our veins. Some of you will of taken Friday and Monday to take in the festivities. Others will have stocked the fridge, plumped the cushions, positioned your posterior on your sofa and just taken in it all in. The European Team led by Professor Paul Mcginley held strong and fast as they dispatched the Stars & Stripes like a UPS parcel. Our local boy Stephen Gallagher looked nervy but who wouldn't be in this field of dreams in the Perthshire hills. Poulter the postman was delivering smaller packages than usual but still setting fires in all of our hearts as he holed from bunkers and slashed out of rough. The iceman Stenson was sending out golf ball missiles into the heavy Scottish air and stood strong and steadfast like a Volvo Estate. Victor Dubuisson for me was my highlight of the Ryder Cup, this man laughs in the face of stress and laughs in the face of cool. He is so smooth and cool, he could be the closest human thing to toothpaste! Now lets get on to the Yanks and in particular that complete Yank 'Patrick Reed'. He was the subject of some dreadful abuse prior to teeing it up in the singles which was uncalled for completely. However his arrogance came to a head at the 7th hole when he gestured SHHHHHH to the crowds and from that point on, he will be truly hated by most Europeans and will never be able to go on a package holiday to mainland Europe again.
Now for Phil! I love Phil Mickelson and he brings sunshine into the game with his mental golf but I don't think he gained anything apart from a reduction in his popularity when he made his comments at the press conference. There's a time and a place for things like that and it just came out as an excuse and basically inferred that he was bigger than the team and the Captain. Maybe what he was saying was correct but I think he should have slept on it.
LINLITHGOW BOYS MAKE THE HEADLINES AT THE RYDER CUP
Our young squadron of fun enthusiasts here at Linlithgow GC made the headlines being voted in the top 8 fancy dressed supporters at Gleneagles. They dressed up as their hero and the lord of golf Miguel Jimenez and as Bruce Forsyth said "Didn't they do well". Here is a few picks of the boys, see if you can recognise them.
CHARLEY IRE-LANDS A HOLE IN ONE AND SO DOES THE OTHER HALF OF THE OLD FIRM
A nicer Celtic fan you will not meet and a great friend of mine scored an Ace at hole 7 last Wednesday. His name is Charley Ireland! Now what Celtic can do Rangers can also do, now enter Dougie Cockburn the biggest Rangers fan at the club and also a great friend of mine. Not happy with a Celtic fan getting one up on him, Dougie went out on the Sunday with his blue top, blue, trousers, blue pants, blue socks, blue balls and scored an ace at the 17th. It really is nice to see both halves of the Old Firm coming together for such a great cause, the cause being a bottle of Whiskey each behind the bar for us all to drink! Nice work chaps.

I know I have a laugh with you all but I really do take my career and my industry very seriously. I absolutely love what I do and without all of your support over the years, I wouldn't be where I am today. I will let you all know how I get on at the awards dinner in October.
