What a weekend of weather that was and what a weekend to choose to go to Portpatrick to play golf. Yes I headed down to Portpatrick to play golf on the worst day of the year, but don’t worry we didn’t play golf, not even I am that silly. We did however visit a number of eating and drinking establishments to help us cope with the pain of missing out on our golf. For anyone who has driven down to Portpatrick, I think you will struggle to find a worst drive on planet earth. The road has more bends than Silverstone, single track roads, trucks limited to 53mph and the worst views I’ve ever seen. The highlight of the drive was coming upon the smallest Asda ever in Girvan. There was about 4 isles and everyone looked quite similar. Now I thought the drive was bad, then we found ourselves in Stranraer, the land time forgot. Although we did get in tow with 2 locals, one called JT and the other was affectionately known as ‘Danger’. Now don’t think that he was some sort of Dangerous Person, his nickname had simply come about from his uncanny resemblance to the cartoon character ‘Danger Mouse’.
