Fletcher loves a spoon

What a headline and what a guy! Stuart Fletcher is just a lovely guy who smiles even more than me. I will have to ask my GP to up my meds as I can’t have that. Stuart was getting teased two weeks ago before the medal about not having ever won a medal spoon. The gentleman was not broken but energized, and proceeded to go out and shoot his best ever gross score, 70! He also got down to his lowest handicap ever, 4! And yes, he got his hands on his first ever spoon!

It's worth noting that Stuart has had all of his clubs fitted by myself and only two weeks ago he wanted to buy a new driver! So we measured, optimised and found that NOTHING, YES NOTHING, was better than his current driver.

Club Championships

It’s Gents Club Championship week at EKGC and we've had all the low men coming out from the shadows. That didn't sound at all good but I'm sure you get what I mean! I always ask myself, how good could all these golfers be if they employed the sort of practice they are going to do this week, all year! We really do have some amazingly talented golfers at our club and this is certainly something we should celebrate.

I know that there are some golfers who think that it's not fair that only 60 players play in this event and the course is closed to higher handicaps but ask yourself this, why do you watch The Open, The Masters and the Ryder Cup? It’s to watch and celebrate the best golfers on the planet. Would you really watch it if it was the mid-high handicap Open? Every single one of us wants to be a good player and I know that some say that they just want to enjoy it but come on, if I had a magic wand and could make you good enough to play in the Ryder Cup, you wouldn't take the opportunity?

Good golfers do not become good golfers overnight and it takes a lot of dedication and perseverance. I’ve said it for many years, the higher handicaps should go out and watch events like this and you will be amazed at how good our players are and you will definitely improve as a golfer the more you watch better players in the flesh. So let’s all celebrate the talent we have and be proud to be associated with them.

Club Championship Party Night

At the end of every Championship there should be a party and as you know!

I LOVE TO PARTY- SO MUCH SO- PEOPLE SAY I'D GO TO THE OPENING OF AN ENVELOPE!

But remember I am doing it for you all and not my love of karaoke. There will be a disco... and did I mention karaoke?! Last year we had a band but somehow I ended up singing with them, badly! This year it's your turn to deafen people and grab the mic.

The party is due to start at 7.30pm and, as usual, I will be there early… from 6am! No more sympathy required don't worry.

The simple shoe equation

Mathematics can be a complicated subject with all that pi, algebra and calculus floating around, but there is one simple equation we can all understand:

The main problem here is that walking on hard ground for four hours/18 holes in the summer months can take its toll on our feet.

Adjust to your surroundings

Driver adjustability has been a marketing buzz term for a number of years now, but how much of a difference will it really make to your game? Well, we decided to find out.

We could bamboozle you with tech speak when it comes to adjustability but there are two key ways in which today's drivers can be adjusted to suit your swing, making a custom fitting more important than ever before.

Perimeter weighting

The first is the ability to adjust weighting on the sole of the head to enhance flight characteristics or to promote a specific ball flight.

Hosel adjustability

The second is the ability to adjust loft and lie angles in the hosel.
