Greetings,
This week I have mainly been unpacking boxes and cutting up cardboard. It's not a fetish, just all our new stock arriving. Every week we get great complements about how good the shop is looking and we are always trying to give you the complete golf retail facility. It is impossible to stock everything in the shop, but I do lots of research to make sure we get the best quality range of stock possible. I can still offer you every single brand and product available in golf, how I hear you ask, well through my 'Click & Collect' service. Here you can through an online library of 100's of products, select what you would like and then collect it from the shop. Very simple system meaning you can get the ease of internet shopping but with my customer service thrown in for no extra charge. No longer will you be a number to an online retailer, but a valued customer to Graeme Bell Golf every single time!
CAMMY'S BRIDGE
Shortly before Christmas, we lost a great friend and a member of Linlithgow Golf Club 'Cameron Thomson'. To remember Cammy , his friends decided to raise money to build a stone bridge at the 13th. Many of you have helped them along the way and the new bridge has been started in the last 2 weeks. One of our members 'Dougie Cockburn' is building the bridge and he has been out in the horrific weather making great progress. Dougie is giving his time for free to do this and I would like to thank him on behalf of everyone at the club. In such difficult financial times for everyone, it is so humbling to see a guy going out of his way to offer his services for free to help salute a lost friend and help the golf club. Dougie your a champ!
HELP THE CLUB
Last week we had volunteers on the course helping to remove litter from the course. It was great to see people help and this was great. However, there were only six people who came forward to help, which was a little disappointing considering the 100's of members we have here. The club really needs you guys and please come forward to help us on our next mission. This mission is to seed divots and you can improve your karma by contacting me to volunteer. Come on, its only a couple of hours out of your life, think of what Dougie is doing and help us make the course better for the coming season!
GET A GRIP
The March grip promotion that saw you get 12 clubs gripped for the price of 9 was a huge success. We are going to run another promotion for the next 4 weeks which I think will be a huge hit!
GET 10 CLUBS RE-GRIPPED FOR £40!!!!!!!
THATS UNDER A £4 PER GRIP!!!!!!
ALL GRIPS WE USE A LEADING BRAND GRIPS AND THIS EQUATES TO 50% OFF!!!
WHY I DECIDED TO DROP ADI-ZERO GOLF SHOES THIS YEAR
There has been lots of bad press about adidas Golf Shoes and what they have been doing to greens, i.e. tearing them up. But although this concerns me, that was not why I took this decision. There were a couple and the main reason was
Would I pay over £120 for a pair of plastic dress shoes to wear out? I would want a leather pair for that.
- Another major fact is that, as soon as these shoes come out, the price fluctuates so much, I can't guarantee you that my price will be competitive. It also makes it almost impossible to say if you are getting value for money and this goes against my retailing ethics.
This is a major reason why I have opted to stock Ecco Golf Shoes as I believe that you are getting a great quality product that I built around your foot and not around a marketing steamroller.
ECCO GOLF SHOES - WE ARE BRINGING QUALITY BACK
As you have read above, I have decided to change things up and bring you more quality and value for money. There are also a couple of other reasons that I have decided to bring Ecco on board.
I have been asked a lot recently about the shoes.
Through re studding of shoes I see how shoes last over time and Ecco last and last and last.
I have also never worn a shoe that feels as good as this, never!
How Ecco shoes are made...
A key Ecco innovation is a manufacturing technique called direct injection. This is a process whereby the leather upper is joined to the sole components (the chemical bonding is know as vulcanization) by robotically injecting a molten material (usually Polyurethane, or PU) into the mid-sole. On some models the sole is directly injected to the upper.
Shoes made this way are superior for several reasons.
Depending on the shoes function, a direct injected mid-sole can have varying densities adding to the comfort, flexibility and life of the shoes.
The bond created when vulcanized is so strong that if separation were attempted, the leather upper would rip apart first.
Since no glue or stitching is used, this watertight seal will not separate over time (a fault of many golf shoes).
Because of the integrity of the seal, the Gore company that licenses Goretex, allows Ecco, and only Ecco, to remove the bottom of the Gore-tex bootie sewn into shoes in the production of their gore-tex lined waterproof shoes.
Less materials used means lighter overall weight.
Much of the direct injection process was developed and patented by Ecco years ago. Now, since costs have risen, other golf shoe companies that can see the many benefits of direct injection, simply can't afford it.
Ecco is virtually unchallenged in this important area. Another production process used in Ecco shoes is steam-fitting. Once the upper is fitted to the last, it is pressure-streamed and allowed to dry. This produces an exact uniformity between pairs.
It also ensures that for the life of the shoe, regardless of perspiration, weather or abuse, it will hold its shape.
BESPOKE WEDGE FITTING
We all love our wedges, but are you using the correct type of wedge? Do you know that they way you swing a wedge will affect the style of wedge you should use? I think that you will be one of two types.
-A steep swinger (deep divots)
-A shallow swinger (small shallow divots)
There is more to it but that will get you thinking and if you match the grind, bounce and loft of a wedge, then your scores will improve. What I can also do, is gap your wedges perfectly using flightscope, so you can have a consistent distance between each wedge. I will bend the lofts and lies of the wedges to suit you. I am one of only a handful of facilities that can do this for you in house!

INTRODUCING THE NEW TITLEIST SM5 WEDGES ARE HERE
It has been a long time coming but the SM5 wedges are here and boy do they look good!
Available in three different finishes, with six different grinds, in nine different lofts, Vokey says the new Titleist SM5 wedge is more compact that before and offers more spin, in more options, than ever before. The new grooves are 7% larger and deeper than before, milled using Titleist's proprietary spin milled technology to ensure the the maximum dimensions allowed. With 9 loft options and 5 grind options, there really is a science to better wedge play and I am the professor who will guide you through it.
