It's taken me 2 weeks to build up enough courage to confess something to you..

My name is Graeme Bell and I went to a Take That concert. It's not my first time either, I've been before. Sometimes I find myself listening to their music first thing in the morning or even in the attic so nobody can see me. When the stresses of life get to me, I reach for the CD, thinking that it will make things better! It's a terrible affliction but I am sure by getting this off my chest I will be able to conquer it.

I fully admit it and I don't care, it was a great night and It's not often you are outnumbered by women at a rate of 1000 to 1. Don't worry though my wife was with me and she kept me safe, plus I blamed her for going, when deep down it was me!

I would just like to point out that if you think my passion for Take That is bad, wait till you see what's on Kieran's iPod, it makes Julian Clary look butch.

WET WET WET- RAIN IS ALL AROUND ME

Another week has passed with such a diverse range of weather and it makes it so difficult to plan your wardrobe. I would simply opt for waterproofs every day as a safe bet. Speaking of waterproofs, I had quite a few people in talking about waterproofs and which ones to buy? Like many things, it all comes down to budget and functionality. At the top of your budget we have the number 1 brand in golf waterproofs and that is 'Galvin Green' . They really are the Bentley of waterproofs and come with a lifetime waterproof warranty. I've still got the same set since 2006, I am so miserable! No in all seriousness, I don't need to buy another set as they are fine! Only certain Professional Shops actually have full Galvin Green accounts and I am very glad to say that I have one here at East Kilbride Golf Club.

If you don't fancy shelling out a few hundred pounds on a jacket then how about £99 for a whole suit, yes a whole suit! Not from Galvin but from Stuburt. The Stuburt range is modern in design and comes with a 2 year waterproof warranty. This is a great deal and comes in a range of sizes and colours.

BALLS

No I'm not talking about 'Ed Balls' departure from politics this week! I am posing the question this week

"DO YOU KNOW WHAT BALLS YOU SHOULD BE PLAYING WITH?"

Manufacturers are majestic at marketing and will let you believe that the best ball for you is the one that the Tour players play and do you know what I say to that..

"NONSENSE"

Different players want different things and different balls do different things. People are sometimes brand loyal and that's fine but you need to be sure what the ball can do for you. I always feel that a little chat with a player about their game can help us establish what they want and from that we can eliminate certain balls from the equation. Combine that with the ball and club data we get from our Flightscope Radar Device, then we can arrive at your perfect ball.

BEWARE OF PIRATES

I know we don't live on the coast but you must always beware of pirates in the golf industry. The picture of the pirate is my youngest boy 'Harris' and I can assure you that he is not a pirate, he just liked the hat. I was sitting down on Sunday evening when a tweet from a certain discount golf high street store came up and it got me thinking. Do you think that many players have been there testing clubs against the newest range of clubs, to be told that their own clubs were actually doing a great job and not to bother spending money on new equipment? No I doubt it and this is what's wrong with golf in general. Players desperately searching for a better game and throwing good money into golf clubs that they might not need. This high turnover of equipment is just what these High Street Stores require to operate and at the end of the day you are just another number. I am a business man but I can honestly say that I have advised just as many people not to buy golf clubs then I have to buy them.

RICKY FALLS FOWL OF HIS PEERS

In an anonymous USPGA poll, Ricky Folwer was voted one of the most overrated players on the PGA tour. He then wiped the smile off of all their faces by winning the Players Championship in serious style by finishing the last 4 holes of his final round in 5 under par. This forced a play-off where he won the title. Lovely stuff but only in America would you have players voting for such a thing. Young Ricky ditched his final day orange outfit for something a little less luminous and maybe that helped also.

FATHER & SON

You'll be forgiven for having a Boyzone or Cat Stevens song in your head but don't be fooled as we had a father and son pick up the first 2 places in Division one in Saturdays competition. James Murray and his son Scott had fantastic nett scores of 65 & 66 and although they will be picking up some prize money, they both will probably be due a visit from the handicap convenor wielding a sword to slash their handicaps. I have not had the pleasure of coaching these gentlemen but I did sell James a pair of shoes recently, so I will be taking part of the credit again! Have a look at James in his fabulous new shoes!
