When others around us crumbled, we stood strong and delivered an amazing opening day competition. We were the only club in the area to hold a counting competition on Saturday and that is testament to our Course Manager 'Grant Peters' and his staff who have worked so hard to make the course in the condition it is at the moment.

  

I would like to thank my staff, i.e. Phil who managed over 150 players on the day and made the tee run on time. It isn't an easy task as we have to deal with quite a few cancelations, additions and answer the phone more times than Noel Edmonds on 'Deal or no Deal'. Well done Phil!

The Captains ceremonial drive in was carried out in style as Captain 'Ian Scott' calmly scelped the ball up the left hand side of the fairway using the ancient hickory driver. It's not easy hitting a pressure shot like that and there was definitely a sigh of relief as the ball left the tee. Johnny and Karen helped feed and water the troops as usual and their great service was much appreciated. 

 

CAMERON ADAM (MY NEW APPRENTICE)

I know that I am not Alan Sugar, I'm much taller and better looking! I'm not rich and to prove that I drive a 1.7 KIa instead of an Aston Martin. What we do have in common is that we have a new Apprentice this year. My new assistant is here and here's a little Bio from him.

Originally from Harburn golf club, I have spent the last 2 years working at Rudding Park, one of Yorkshires premier golf resorts. There I worked with the Head Professional, helping to run and maintain Ruddings Golf Academy. I gained valuable experience in all areas of the golfing industry from teaching to custom fitting and club repairs. With 2 years of my PGA training now complete I am very excited to finish my degree at Linlithgow Golf Club. Prior to starting my PGA training I also spent 2 years studying and playing golf at Utah Valley University in America. I majored in digital media and film which was a very interesting and challenging subject; however I knew that golf would ultimately be my chosen profession. Upon my return to the UK I applied to the PGA in October 2012 and I am on course to qualify in 2015. I am really looking forward to working with Graeme and think that Linlithgow will be the perfect place for me to develop as a young Golf Professional.

Ok that was dramatic but that's me! We do have lots of skilled tradesmen and women at the club who have great skills that you all good utilize if need be!

This week I will let you know a little bit about one of our local businessmen 'David Sharp' who runs the Butchers on the High Street 'Andersons'. David is a great supporter of the golf club and he provides the best produce I have ever tasted. I have had many steaks in my life, I know that you wouldn't be able to tell as I have a figure of a Greek God but yes I love food. With a local butcher like David, you know that all his produce is locally sourced and is fresh, not like supermarkets!! So why not pop in and sample his steaks!
