Greetings,
This week I was a very good boy and went to visit Santa on the Santa Train up in Aviemore. I did take the kids along as my wife said it would be wrong to leave them. So we did and they had a great time too.
We, as usual, were late for the train and Santa's cheeks had gone from red to purple as he gestured to us in a friendly way with his fist. When we approached the steamer, when I say steamer I don't mean the train but one of the elves. He seemed a very jolly elf full of the Christmas cheer as he offered us some of his mulled wine. We did have a fantastic time on the freezing steam train and Santa was very nice. He asked me if the members of East Kilbride had been good boys and girls, so I told him to register for my newsletter and he would soon find out!
Scotland win the Davis Cup
Sorry, Britain won/win the Davis Cup! As Bruce Forsyth says, "Didn't they do well!" Andy Murray and his Band of Merry Men dispatched the Belgians with ease, like a box of soft centred chocolates. Sorry but all I could relate to Belgians was Chocolate and beer, but I thought chocolate would be have mass appeal. It has taken Britain 79 years to capture the Davis Cup again and I would write more about it, however I absolutely detest watching tennis and I am a golf pro, not a connoisseur of clay, grass or hardcourt! No more tennis chat till June 2016, you are now safe!

Magnifique Hooky Street
For those of you who have no idea what I am on about, that was an extract of lyrics from the smash hit TV show 'Only Fools and Horses' . Del boy was and still is a childhood hero of mine who conquered adversity with great chat and charm. He did sell hooky gear and Peckham Spring Mineral Water polluted with uranium. I would like to point out that I do not sell hooky gear and polluted water, but just like Del Boy, I can make your Christmas complete when I open my suitcase.

The skies above have not been kind to us ground dwellers of late and have continued in their mission of ambushing us with buckets of water. This has been a nightmare for golf, and a nightmare for a green keeper.
Our course has been holding up well during these downpours and only closed on a few occasions. Many other courses in our area have been shut more often than not, and on winter greens when we are on summer ones.
There is very little that you can do about the weather, but our Green staff led by Brian have spent numerous man hours installing new drainage all over the golf course. He has also created greens that have virtually no thatch (thatch acts like a sponge in greens and stops them from draining) and this has allowed us to be playable more.
It is also worth noting that we can play from the fairways during the winter and don't use mats when most are not allowing members to do this. We are trying very hard to give you all a course playable all year round and I think that during weather like this we see huge benefits from work carried out in previous years.
For those of you who have braved the elements and visited the club in the last week, you will see that Brian and his team have started work on our new short game area bunker. It will be a great addition for the clubs practice facilities and I will keep you all up to date on its progress.
